The Gold Reef Rose Society’s inauguration was held in January 1988 and Margaret Dams was the first Chairman. By June 1988, the membership was approximately 30 and the first function was a pruning demonstration held at the Botanical Gardens in July.

In 2002 Sheenagh Harris was elected Chairman and in 2004 Sheenagh was made President of ROSA.  In 2012 the WFRS held the International Convention in Sandton under the auspices of Sheenagh Harris and Di Girdwood.  GRRS was totally committed to helping at this Convention.

Functions are held every 6 to 7 weeks including garden visits, pruning demonstrations and informative talks on rose growing and rose care.
Subscriptions stand at R120 per annum at time of publishing.
